Mi-Fi for TV via the net.

Now I know this has been 'aired' several times but after all this time I am no nearer understanding the answer.

To get UK TV without a suitable wired internet connection in an apartment, I understand we need a Mi-Fi unit and data SIM.
OK so far but there are a plethora of choices on the market with prices ranging from £30 to £130 for 3G/4G units.
Do you need to spend big bucks?

Then theres the SIM. What sorta price and capacity would we need to watch 6 hours a night TV ish.?

Can we have some simple suggestions please as up to now we have always had good internet at our rentals.

Don't know if you've seen this offer from Currys https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/phones...45754-pdt.html
Cheap unit but data costs for 6 hours \ night could be prohibitive?

Thanks Gellyneck.
I guess the unit is very cheap but possibly tied to '3'.
I will be researching in Portugese phone shops for something similar. Not sure how many GB is 6 hours a day use.

I think, but you'd better check, it's unlocked so any sim card will work.

Lots. and lots more. you'd chew through a good few Gb in 6hrs a day. you'd probably be better off with a local deal if possible.

Thanks Terry and it fits me exactly.
I seems I might need an unlimited data plan.

probably - BUT unlimited data SIM plans from UK suppliers are restricted to phones and as far as I know you can't get one for a MiFi, especially with roaming. check out if you can do a local deal.

Last year we could download from Netflix for free on MIFI on 3

Providing we subscribed to it , which we did

Although we didn’t watch it, we hardly ever watch any TV when we travel

Never read a newspaper

Prefer to be just alone and leave the world behind

For a little while

As FAT says, lots. Depends on various factors HD etc but count on 1GB per hour so 6gb a day or 42GB per week and thats before you have used it for anything else. Thats going to have to be a hell of a good local deal I reckon to make it worthwhile. Worth checking how good the signal is for the provider as well as if its crap you will be sat there watching it buffer all night.
