That's interesting! My phone is tied to O2, but I have a 3 sim in my iPad and I'm wondering if the the conditions extend to that.

A couple of exclusions

x Feel At Home is designed for UK residents who are on holiday or business trips abroad, not for extended periods abroad.

x You can't use your phone as a personal hotspot (tethering) while you're abroad.

It sounds too good to be true but as I predicted someones getting in early to capture customers before they are all forced to cut roaming charges. Good for them!

However as mentioned there is a warning that its not intended for long term use.

I found this further info in the T&C's

"Since Feel At Home is designed for UK residents on holiday or business trips abroad, if you use up all your allowance abroad in any two months within a 12 month period, it may affect your roaming services and prevent you from using international roaming in the future."

Also it states that you have to have been with 3 for over 30 days to get this service so dont jump ship the day before you go to France.

I wonder if any others will follow suit. Im tempted to move from Vodafone but I think I may be tied in.

25GB internet should be enough though for general use, we're over there about 3-4 months of the year. About 6 -8GB a month. Won't be streaming films obviously but for news, silly sites etc should be fine.
Interestingly tethering works for a bit until they discover you. we managed about 20 minutes last year before they pulled the plug!

Although perhaps if I try again with the same laptop it will have remembered the address.

THREE

We had no bother with THREE in Italy, on their own "TRE Italia" network. It was fast enough for what we needed.

We have an unlocked 3 dongle, but it's totally useless in Europe unless we buy a local SIM.

Even with a local SIM, it won't work in Portugal, while a locally bought Kanguru dongle works fine.

I have the 3 mobile wifi on contract. I went into the 3 shop in Southport today.

They confirmed that the new offer from July for the 11 designations applies to the mobile wifi. It will be great if it works.
