TomTom Camper won't hold Avoid motorways

Another problem with the blessed Camper. It has started, just in the last week or so, to ignore my settings to Avoid motorways.

I go into the Vehicles a d routes option, say Yes to Always avoid motorways? Next thro the various other settings, and Done at the end of hi h takes me back to the options screen with Vehicle and route types, Toll roads etc, with only the option to go Back from there (no Done, but I think that's how it has always been). The Back takes mto the options screen with Connections, Car symbol etc, and I select Done there too.

When I go back into Settings it still has Always avoid motorways? NO.

Anyone else having this problem?

It hasn't been too much of a problem the last couple of days as the weather's been grey n misty so haven't missed much on the roads less-travelled.

I would like to just 'set and forget', especially as I'm travelling on my own.

Wish I could help Jean but all of ours obey the avoidance commands. Not sure about the new TT.

Hi Raynipper

The new GO Camper does not have the option to Avoid a Motorway. You can select Avoid Toll Roads. I have taken this up with Tomtom. I think this is a possibly because they may have integrated the Truck software.

I have explained to them that Motorhomes are usually touring and you don't see the countryside from a Motorway an so Motorhomers are likely to want the ability to Avoid Motorways unless they are wishing to travel to a destination quickly.

Seems to be solved, following a post by pep in 2014 in which (s)he says:

"Well, I think I solved the problem myself.

The drum reset did not do the trick.

A reset by pressing and holding the on/off button and going into recovery mode did not help either.

However, resetting from the menu did. I could choose between a partial and a complete reset, and to be sure I did a complete reset, expecting everything I had installed such as POIs to vanish. But that was not the case. All my settings, of course, were gone, but POIs were still on the device and working when it was powered up again. And the "always avoid motorways" for Camper was also working. So all seems to be in order."

Only thing is, I lost all my favourites - bummer. I didn't think of them as being different from POIs. I wonder have I a back up somewhere... But I don't know how you *do* back up TT info when you've no access to folders. Another reason their system is pathetic.

It's holding the setting at the moment - we shall see tomorrow.

Hi Jean

Long time since I used Tomtom Home. Isn't there an option in Tomtom Home to do a backup?

It's actually Mydrive Connect for the camper.

Don't know about the backup option.

Hi Jean

If you open the TomTom MyDrive Webpage and log into it with your account do you see your favourites listed there. 3rd Icon down on the left. If so then I think if you attach your unit to the PC and open MyDrive connect as well as MyDrive webpage and leave it on it may sync the favourites back to your unit. Thats what happens on the later units don't know if it does it with yours.

Car Safe Drive on Google Play Store type in carsafedrive and scroll down page. Motorhomers drive long distances every day on motorways. Car Safe Drive is an app from google play store beta version currently that will try to inform you if you are getting close to vehicle on the its basically a driver assist app on your phone. All you need is a cradle and android phone and it monitors vehicles ahead of you on the motorway and does have a lane control features that will be improved in the release version.

Great little App for all those motorhome users who do not have driver assist on their motorhome. Any extra pair of eyes on the road is a good thing even if its a single electronic eye via your phone camera. Warns by putting a box around vehicle ahead of you and if it breaks hard or you get very close it will attempt to warn you with different level sounds of alarm.

Great little App just goto google play store on your phone and type in carsafedrive this scroll down to the app.

This should make more sense
