You can still run a sat nav without the internal battery being able to hold charge as long as its plugged in to the vehicle. I had this on a TT of mine: it wouldn't hold a charge to use it without being plugged in but worked fine when plugged in to the vehicle (or my computer).

Hi, thanks for the replies, yes just to explain, the Garmin would not work even when connected to a usb lead, would not switch on, tried reseting it several times and recharging but nothing, zilch, nadda, so I guessed it was a dead one!!

There are two types of USB leads for the Garmin. One will only charge and the other will fire up the unit indicating connected to the PC.
Or it could be dead.

After a lot of research and deliberation we opted for the avtex tourer one. The reviews seem very good and you have the option to use the sat nav just for the car if your not towing

I have the previous one - the 760LMT-D and it is a cracking piece of kit. Never let me down. I wouldn't be without it...

I've just got one and it seems really good. But I am still trying to figure out all the things it can do. I may need to start a new thread to get help

Does the 760 have all the same categories, MHF, NKC, ASCI etc. And is there a way to combine all of these so all sites appear at the same time.
