Thanks Andy but I am unable to find MANAGE FAVOURITES. Only MANGE POIs.

Hi Leseduts

I don't have a Garmin but it could be what settings you have on it. For example on a Tomtom you can set it to always look for the Fastest, Shortest Economic or Walking Routes etc or to ask you what type of route you would like each time.

Is the unit set to look for the fastest route. The problem you are experiencing can happen if you have a Tomtom set to the shortest or most economic route.

Is the unit set to have a speed limit. It could be that if you set the max speed of your vehicle to say 50mph it is no quicker to go around a city than to go through it. This has happened to us. Check what route it suggests if you take off the max speed setting.

Hope you resolve your problem

Doug

Are the special motorhome versions worth double the money? bearing in mind sat navs generally sending vehicles down inadequate roads.
Are the specialist MH ones really that different with content?

I have it on fastest setting. There does not seem to be as much choice on it as my old Garmin. Before I send it back I have asked a friend to check that I have it set correctly, he will come at the weekend and if he cannot do anything with it, then it will go back.

I would have said press right too Ray as they all have that, but figured you'd have done that and found nothing.

Hi Les n Doug.
I find that all three of my different sat navs set to fastest route will often send you down miniscule farm tracks to to cut a corner and save 100yds.
I guess it's up to us to widen the map and see the overall picture and what we are getting ourselves in to.

UPDATE

When I received my Garmin I found that the box had been opened plus there was some history in the 'History' file in the unit. I contacted the seller who advised that the item had been sold by Aldi to a customer; then it was returned; then he bought it and sold it to me. The listing said it was BRAND NEW.

At the time of buying I wouldn't have bought it had I known it was second hand.

I have emailed the vendor to see what their response is.

Graham

Which ever way you look at it, we are MUCH BETTER OFF in the EU than outside!

Yes Graham.
It happens quite often on E-Bay. I bought a 'brand new' laptop only to find the seller was selling it for a friend who had been given it as a present.
When it went wrong and because I could not produce the original purchase receipt, ASUS refused to repair under guarantee even thought it was by then only 5 months old.
