Cycle maps

I found this site which has been very useful as it shows not only cycle routes but also footpaths. I have used it to explore an area I am going to in advance and printout some sheets to take with me.
http://www.opencyclemap.org/ I prefer it to the Sustrans one.

they also do an app if you have a connection in the area.

You can zoom in to as much detail as you want

We are always on the lookout for accurate info on cycle routes both at home and in Europe and in particular those that can be viewed offline. Of course being able to print off sheets before leaving home is extremely valuable as well, so I have bookmarked this one. As a matter of interest we use Osmand+ as our resource of choice when it comes to cycling because once you have selected the "show cycling routes" option, cycling routes are automatically highlighted including those paths dedicated to cycling like the " voies vertes " in France. All viewable offline of course...

Infamy, infamy! They've all got it in for me!

Maps.me uses the same open source data as osmand, but is available for IOS & Android for those who have a mix of devices. Walking and cycling routes are shown where the data exists.
caulkhead and caulkhead like this.

That's excellent!

Zoom in to show SE England and the NL.

Hi Geoff, I downloaded mine from the Itunes store. Its called CycleMaps. I have not got the hang of it as they have added complications and you need to be connected.

I have found the map in the link easier for planning a route then make a screen print to take with me and use Maps.me for off line work.

I see that the link has options for different layers eg Transport, Landscape, Outdoor paths etc. See cliccky thingy TR of screen.

Thanks Andrew

We do not always know where we are going from day to day, also we have a very cheap smartphone contract which gives us 3Gb a month so we would be able to use the App.

I shall follow up your references a bit more before deciding.
