Latest Excursion

Thought I'd share my latest excursion with you all.

Boxing Day
Left home (Lancashire) 10am with my wife, 17yr & 14yr old daughters and friends who had hired a MH for a 16.45pm ferry from Dover. Ferry was 30 mins late which helped as we got caught up in a bit of traffic.
Off ferry about 8pm (inc +1hr) and travelled to Verne (40 mins) for overnight at the basin.

27/12
Left Verne around 7.15am and travelled to Rust (Europa Park) in Germany. Stopped here for 2 nights.

28/12
Spent the day at Europa Park, gosh it was cold (must be my age) but the kids enjoyed it.

29/12
Left Europa Park about 7.15am and travelled down to Fussen to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Castle. Got there about 12.15pm, it was very busy.
Left about 4pm and travelled up to Munich. Stopped and had a look around Doche which was a concentration camp. It was obviously late when we got there and closed but had a walk across and could see a few things.
Stopped overnight outside the Allianz Arena on the Stellplaz.

30/12
Did a tour of the Allianz Arena. Left about 2pm and travelled up to Rudesheim am Rhine. Overnight stop where the coaches park across from the local Police Station. Had a walk into Rudesheim, it easy very quiet.

31/12
Left Rudesheim about 10am and travelled up to Bruges. Got to Bruges about 4.30pm. The Aire was full but allowed to overnight on the coach Park. Had a walk in the centre, again it was very quiet but lots of fireworks for New Year.

01/01/17
Left Bruges about 7am for 9.40am ferry home.
Home mid afternoon. Throughly enjoyed our excursion.

Total miles covered = 2050

In a word....Brilliant!!

Having been a long standing Annual Fantasy Pass holder at Euro Disney all I can say is that Europa Park knocks Disney for six.

There is a 'ranch themed' campsite just outside the park entrance which offers great services and value.

Once inside the theme park there is so much more to do than at Disney and all ages are amply catered for.....especially toddlers.

We thought it was so good we did annual passes for a couple of years.

Rust is reachable in a day too from Calais if you don't mind the driving.

I think you have to do 'Disney' for its magic....but then go to Europa Park for a proper family fun theme park.

Have Motorhome will travel. We don't get weeks off so try to go / see as much as we can in the short time we have available with plenty of breaks in between. Drove down to Salou for our summer holiday (2500miles 2wks).

We've driven to Rome, Croatia, Prague, Berlin & Denmark in the past (not all at once) but get a maximum of 2wks holiday. These motorhomes are an expensive bit of kit so have to get your money's worth.

Thanks

Europa Park: I'm not a theme park lover but Europa Park is excellent, there's so much going on and plenty of places to eat at very reasonable prices (food loop 7 euros for spaghetti bol) It's the second largest theme park in Europe after Disney.
As Andy mentioned there's a camping area on site (no pre booking) with a themed western bar, restaurant & toilet with shower block, again excellent at 30 euros for 24hrs inc all facilities and 6 mins walk to Europa Park entrance. The park was open from 10am until 10pm and around 38 euros per adult. This was our 6th visit.

In case anyone is interested, this is our dash cam footage of the drive through Rust to Europa Park Campsite.....complete with soundtrack!

The theme park is entirely to your left as you drive through the town, just to give you an idea of its size.

Don't they walk 'funny' in France?

Good video - what camera was it recorded on?
