The rain in Spain😀

Well we had our first downpour last night and the was ahem a little ingress into the awning😪😪
It being a lovely sunny breezy day today all has dried out and the plastic ' carpet is washed and dried.
A visit to one of the local Chinese.shops yielded a funnel and length of pipe.
Hubby has fashioned a drain from lowest point of awning roof to a hedge bottom
We shal l see!

The rain in Spain DOESN'T just fall on the plains . . . It does on the coast too - when it rains it can rain for several days . . . I've had 'cabin fever' once or twice & in the end just braved the rain to restore my sanity

Morning!

We are at Bonterra Park and we had rain, boy did we ever, the night before last. It always amazes me just how loud torrential rain sounds on the van roof. Nice day today though.

Hi
Yes it can and does rain rather heavily in Spain but the sun shines makes up for it.
We are due at Bonterra Park in February!!
Any tips on best parts to try to pitch on?
We booked via the Caravan Club

Apologies as I know this is a bit off topic

Cheers
Jamsie

Doubt you will have much choice where to pitch. I am not sure but I think if you book with C Club the site allocates your pitch - bit I am not sure on that. I remember friends of ours booked with CC and they were allocated a pitch, however they were allowed to change it later on when a different pitch became available. This site just seems to get busier and busier. We had reserved a gold pitch and when we arrived a fortnight ago there was only one pitch available so it was Hobson's choice. However, we have since been able to move to a pitch that we prefer. As we are here for the winter it's good to be able to pitch in your place of preference. We should quite likely still be here when you arrive in Feb. pitch C1-11. It's a nice site and most pitches are fine.

The 'best' pitches are usually reserved a year in advance . . . If you get shoved to the back of the site it can be quite dark under all the trees - whilst not as spic & span as Bonterra the other site (Azahar) half a mile away is just as good and cheaper !

Thinking of coming down to Spain in January. Advice needed. I plan to use the ferry to Bilbao /Santander. When is the best time to drive down through Spain? Which are the best campsites C&CC rally sites or CC sites? Do I need to book in advance?
Thanking you in Anticipation,
Steve

Had a look at Azahar a few weeks ago, not one pitch we could get our 3.2m van on, site looked tired and unkempt, we walked all round too. poollooked like it needed a good clean too. but m aware that what suits one doesn't suit another.
You can no longer book specific pitches at Bonterra, type yes particular one no.
Mees where are you now?

In my book, any time is a good time to drive through Spain. In January you could get snow en routè depending on route chosen - or not. 'Which are the best campsites' is a big ask. Spain is a big country. There are many campsites so you need to filter your request as to region etc. the low season in winter seems to get busier each year. Some sites you won't need to book, some you will. For example, Bonterra Park in Benicassim is packed. It's a very popular site. Very few vacant pitches although there is a fairly steady traffic of 'ins and outs'. I think at most sites you could arrive on spec. And if that particular site was full there would always be another with space. Sorry to disagree with Vivicdoc but could not recommend the other site in Benicassim, Azahar. It's definitely not for us. At the moment it is almost empty and Bonterra Park is packed. Horses for courses.
We are not 'ralliers' so can't answer that question.
