Fiat X250 Airbag Failure Light.

Hi All,
My 2016 Fiat X250 has the Airbag Failure light come on, and stays on. I phoned the AA and they refused to come out and check with diagnostics etc., just told me to take it to a garage.

I'm reluctant to mess about with the wiring connectors under the seats, so will have to take to a Fiat dealer.

Just wondered if anyone had this alarm on and what's the most common fault, hopefully not a ECU module failure?

Any advice would be appreciated, as I don't trust garages.

Al.

Happened to us, it was a failure of one of the seatbelt pretensioners - all are linked to the Airbag warning. If the light is on, your airbags and seatbelt pretensioners will NOT work.

Don’t try and locate it yourself, take it to a Fiat main dealer as it requires careful diagnostics and replacement. Meanwhile drive even more cautiously as you are NOT protected. If there was an accident your insurance could well be invalidated. It needs sorting urgently.

Ours was the driver’s side (RHD) and the part was available (700€), we were told, but only by someone who we did not trust, that the passenger side one (normally the driving side here) was no longer available….. I hope that we do not need to find out…..

It is an MoT failure (CT here).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Do let us know what is found….l. 😞

Any typo that I make means the errorists win.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.

If it is not something simple like a loose connection beneath a seat then it is possible to send the air bag control module to a specialist to test it. The most common fault is corruption of data due to the cab battery volts dropping slowly over time. If it is faulty beyond repair they can provide a replacement. If they can read the data from the original they can clone a new one, if not a new one will have to be 'programmed' to the vehicle.

Thanks for the info., the van was already booked in for Service & MOT on the 5th October at a Fiat dealer so have asked them to sort this at the same time. I won't be using the van until then. I now can see why the AA don't get involved with Air Bag faults/ alarms. Thanks for your advice. Al.
