I suspect the (non) response was from someone who didn’t actually READ your question fully, or more likely couldn’t be arsed to raise the query with the actual underwriters, so just quoted what’s in the policy.
Do you have a relative/friend in the U.K. where you could be a “temporary resident”?
Being “resident” in the U.K. could save you a fair bit. Just a thought.
