I have to admit I'm not a great fan of Christmas, Liz is, she goes nuts for it every year, but to me it's just another reason to buy yet more stuff people don't want or need.

That's so true Kev

But we can change that

Christmas is what we decide it will be

And for the last few years I've wondered will this be the last time WE put up the Christmas trees, the too many trees I swear I'll never put up again

But I so love them as I walk from room to room

The dinner I'll cook for family which I swear I'll not do next year as we will go out for Christmas dinner just the two of us,

But then again will this be the last year I can manage it ?, so maybe I will until I can't

And I worried about Alberts scan, would bad news mean a last Christmas with all the family?

And if so could I carry it off?

And so the trees will go up, the dinner will be cooked , the grandkids will run wild , the adults will get drunk

And it will all happen in this house, the house the kids grew up in, where partners have been absorbed as sons and daughters, and grandkids meet and greet each other

And where they want to be

And next year

I'm doing absolutely nothing

So there

Liz makes ours every year including the mince meat, luvvly grub.

Re muffins, I like the Morrisons 4 for a quid lemon drizzle ones, I only get them for in the van though, and limit myself to one a day.

Does anyone remember " bee stings"?

A bread muffin filled with vanilla cream And drizzled with a honey topping

I used to love those but I haven't seen them in ages

The German Christmas Stollen

We have tried 3 different Stollens, because they do vary.
I don´t know if your Lidl will have them, but if they do try the FAVORINA marzipan Stollen,
absolutely fabulous.
