Odd flight path

Just watching flight radar as a noisy aircraft went overhead a little while ago.

The port workers in Calais are on strike so maybe the Frencg ATC are also or working to rule. If so, we often routed outside French ATC control to the West in the Oceanic region to avoid the problem.

So he might be doing that then coming back into Spanish/Portugese airspace.

Thanks Geoff, I looked at his route and he goes direct to Faro shortly after, I find it fascinating to watch all these birds in the sky.

I have also been watching a few youtubes on the flying cars progress, all kinds of money being spent on that buy very big companies, but I can't see how it will work, there are so many car accidents with cars as it is, I don't want the buggers falling out of the sky too, will they need a pilots licence, god I hope so.

Without a chart I cannot from memory remember how far west the French FIR extends but from the position you showed he might just avoid it and go straight into the Spanish FIR.

Our son flies back to Izmir Turkey tomorrow from Gatwick so hope they don't have to make too much of a detour.

Ray.

The FSA licensed a twice convicted fraudster to handle our life´s savings. Guess what? He robbed us of £750,000. http://raynipper.com

They route via Dover direct to Dutch or Belgium airspace.

Another odd one, does anyone know why the path is like that, is it a glitch in the app?

Just guessing, but if it was low level in the multiple passes along the coast it might have been for photography.

My first thought too Geoff, but I see this pattern quite often, even over populated areas.

There are firms which go around taking aerial shots of large houses and estates on spec in the hope of selling the photos to 'proud' owners although now it would be cheaper to do it by drone.

So dunno.
