Keep yer loaf

I have made the quickest, easiest loaf of bread today, from start to finish 1hr 10 mins.

Made in my Magi-mix with proper ingredients, good texture and tastes loverly.

It was put into a cold oven turn to 200°c no fan and baked for 55 mins cutting the slit in the top after 10 mins otherwise it wold have risen to the top of the oven I reckon.
Just thought I'd show you.

The big problem with making your own bread is you keep eating it.!!!! We stopped.

The quickest easiest loaf is soda bread Jan

I love it, it doesn’t keep well but is delicious fresh

I substitute yogurt and milk for buttermilk

But you can sour milk with lemon juice instead

I use the same yogurt/ milk mixture for scones

Don’t be afraid of adding oats or seeds it still turns out delicious

I often use 100% rye, a heavier loaf, its fantastic with cheese , and that does keep longer

Handy if you are pushed for time

When its a habit to make and not buy ready made bread then you stop the over eating.

I´ve made my own bread for years, long before we came here. We found shop bread made us very noisy
I used to make 4 loaves at a time, slice and in the freezer, 4 loaves would last too long now so this is ideal for me.

I don´t do a lot of baking now, but the bread I will continue.

We make wholemeal bread every other day in the bread maker. Eat half for a sandwich lunch one day and the other half the next day either as sandwiches again or toast. Just 10 minutes, before bed, to put all the ingredients in and set the timer so that it is done by the time we get up. Take it out to cool before we take the dog out.
