‘‘twas on a Monday morning

The electrician came to call

The two eldest grandkids bought him the Electra control thingy

He decided to upgrade the boiler controls so he could control the central heating by voice or via his phone

The fitting went well, connected to the internet , with Alexia nodding her approval, just the box that’s goes next to the boiler

And he drilled straight through the water pipes , and plumber then he called

He fixed the leak quite easily, but he had to take the plaster off the wall

‘‘Twas on a Tuesday morning , Albert said , don’t worry mate, accidents happen, I’ll plaster the wall

So we will plaster and paint it

.... avoiding painting over the gas tap

He was such a nice young guy , and yes he would have plastered and painted it , or arranged for it to be done

But if we need him again to service our boiler he’ll remember

And who of us has not drilled through a water pipe at sometime or other ??

Well so has Albert

But then again

55 yrs of DIY

What’s the odd water pipe or electric cable

Our grandson used the sink in the cloak room to get up from the toilet

It fell of the wall

And we haven’t got round to replace yet

The pipes remain

When I fell in the toilet the pipes gourged my leg and the hot water from the broken pipe burnt me

Not seriously

But the water ensured I couldn’t get up

Fortunately my son was close, he had me up in seconds , Albert couldn’t

He’s the deputy governor of a large prison so he’s trained in lifting fortunately

So many mistakes we all make

Yes as an apprentice electrician I must have gone through a few pipes and wires over the six year apprenticeship. Plus blown holes in pliers and screwdrivers.
But the best was my electrician who ran a line of cable clips down the corner of a hallway and a week later was told the cable was leaking?
He had managed to put a dozen nails right into the lead water pipe buried in the same corner and it took a week for the leaks to show.

Oh dear! Bluddy Alexa

A friend loves her gadgets and so she, of course, has an Alexa. She told me, with glee, that she comes into the house and calls out "Alexa, put Radio 2 on!" I smiled and said "I just press the button on the radio".

Through a central heating pipe yes.

Also into a 25 gallon water cylinder behind a plasterboard wall....

So yes, been there, done that, got the (soggy) tee shirt....

But, we had a gas pipe extended by British Gas and the fitter managed to nail through the main power feed - bang, out went the lights, power and us as we had a 5 day old baby.....

When we got back after the repair, we thought we could smell gas.....

We could smell gas..... he had "forgotten" to solder the gas pipe into the fitting to attach the cooker and it leaked.....

Probably just as well the power was off....

So, out we went again while BG with very red faces went through the entire c*ck up / job correcting THEiR faults as they went......

So even PROFESSIONALS can get it wrong, quite spectacularly.

Even I am in love with Alexa Pat

She keeps an up to date shopping list for me

We are thinking of changing all the radiator thermostats so we can control all the rooms individually

Via Alexa !!!
