Bush Freeview+ digital TV recorder

Hi all and Happy New Year to you. I have just bought this Bush HDD recorder and want to know if after having set it to record a programme later tonight will it start up from being left on in the standby mode or does it have to be switched on. Have looked through the manual and can't seem to see the answer. Thanks for your help.

Have you got enough time (before the programme to be recorded comes on) to try recording another (short) programme which you could then put it on standby. If it then records, then you will know that it works off standby - if not, then leave on. We have a Panasonic and a Digihome which both work on standby.

Mine is not a Bush model but it is put into standby mode after programming. When you do that, you should see a small light on the front (red in my case) which tells you the recording is set.

Has the Bush a facility to put itself on standby after being idle for a little while, an hour, 2 hours? (These recorders usually do.)

If it does, it stands to reason that it will record from standby otherwise you couldn't put it on to record even a couple of hours ahead.

Does that make sense?

We have one of these and it works on standby.

However. This is the second unit we have had and it seems to have a mind of its own. When we are away it seems to record everything but when we are at home it often seems to miss stuff. It will either just not record a program or say it has but there is nothing there.

I am starting to wonder if its a fault with our aeriel or something.

Get a Humax
We got one of the early Freeview recorders from them and it's never been a minute's bother and still going strong.

We were so impressed that when we wanted a Freesat recorder it had to be Humax.
That's great too apart from the instruction book which runs to quite a few pages!

Well I have just gone through the 3 films I recorded last night (two at the same time) and they have all recorded ok. So I'm happy with the Bush one. Thanks to the other members for their comments.
