Years ago we had the 4 cyl diesel Merc engine in a 123 series estate, I fitted a STT turbo http://www.sttemtec.se/sv/turbosystem/turbosystem.php

Easy job for any competent mechanic as full instructions with kit.

did turbo work?
i always thought engines fitted with turbos ran with higher compression and heat hence more power and oil coolers , engine designed for turbo is completely different, pistons, piston rings, cylinder layout are all affected, not sure adding turbo to normal aspirated engine is good idea, robin

Turbo petrol engines as a rule always run lower compression ratio, witness original Renault F1 turbo with compression so low that it was difficult to start.

I doubt that the principle is different for a diesel.
