Hole in side cowl of Electrolux 1901?

I just happened to notice that on the external part of our Electrolux 1901 roof mounted aircon unit (2001 vintage I believe), there's a quite large gap/hole on one side.

It may always have been there and I just never noticed before, but it doesn't look right to me....I would have thought for weather/rain protection it should have some sort of grill or mesh over the hole.

I'm adding a couple of piccies. (If you click on them they should expand so you can see the hole/gap that I'm talking about)

Can anyone with a similar unit tell me if theirs has this open hole on the left side (looking forwards from the rear of the van), or whether I'm missing a piece of cowl/mesh that should cover it?

Many thanks!

The hole looks to be molded, but there could be some mesh missing, I have a similar on eon my van so if I can drag my arse up there I'll take a picture and report back, but don't hold your breath, as it's very windy round here, and I'm likely to forget too

This PDF is the one I have, and looks to have a crude plastic grill on the sides, you can download it if you hover top right of the page, much better than a paper manual.

This is the data label on mine

Hi Nomad.

There is a dark grey plastic finned grill missing. It appears to deflect air away from the opening with forward travel but is quite open from the side.

If you have the instruction manual it is shown in the parts breakdown on page 27. Tried to attach a snap but that is not proving too easy.

Many thanks for all the input guys.

Looks like I need to source another finned cover piece or fettle something myself.

Anyone know of anywhere that might supply parts for a year 2001 Electrolux (Dometic) B1901 air con unit?
