Retrofit Aircon to Fiat Chassis (2001 Laika EcoVip Classic 2.1)

Hi, is it possible to retrofit an AC unit in the cab of a 2001 Fiat? We have our eye on this campervan but it does not have aircon. Does anyone have experience or could point us in the right direction in terms of suitable units?

I had aircon fitted to a 2006 Ducato some years ago, so it's certainly possible. You should be thinking of £2k as a min. though.

To retrofit is a LOT of work, so therefore very expensive. If its a real issue then you might be better off looking for another vehicle.

Pomme 1's MH is probably a later cab design (X250)than your intended purchase so make sure you do your homework VERY thoroughly to see if it is possible for your cab deasign.

If you do retrofit just be aware that it will not add anything like the installation cost to the vehicles overall value, in fact all it will do is to make is slightly more desirable to any prospective purchaser. Think on its as lost money.

I would SERIOUSLY consider seeking an alternative vehicle if you think AC is an essential. Personally I would NOT CONSIDER a MH without cab aircon if I was planning on holidaying on the Continent anytime between about late April into early October.

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, itís in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Regretfully I have to agree with a caravaner, but what mrplodd says is correct.think very carefully.

We had cab aircon fitted to a 2001 Peugeot Elddis motorhome.
As for as I can remember it was about £1500 in 2003.

Can't say it is a huge success.
When it comes down to it the aircon is trying to cool the air behind the cab too.
You do get some effect in the blown/fan assisted air but I usually end up with the window open part way.
