Dometic air con unit making a humming noise

Hi all

My rooftop air con unit is making a strange humming noise when not in use. only started playing up this weekend.

The system works fine - when you switch it on it blows lovely cool air, but now when I switch it off it makes a low humming noise. only way to stop it is to unplug my mh form the mains

Certainly cant be right - anyone else experienced this type of problem, and has anyone got any suggestions where to get this fixed - not sure how experienced garages are with roof aircon

many thanks

Not sure where you are but google an engineer in your area and maybe he will be able to answer your question on a phone call. I called one out when the unit was less than a year old and he was very helpful and knowledgable.
Good luck

It's probably a little drain pump running on a timer to get rid of the condensate

Does not have one (usually)

They drain to roof static.

thanks for the suggestion - but after much googling its very likely to be a problem with the control board and it not shutting down the system properly

these boards require a specialist to supply and fit - so many people who have had similar problem end up replacing the whole unit. 's!

im booked in for a service/mot (rv specialist) in a few months and ill have it looked at properly

At the moment ive gone for the 'cheap fix' as the air con still works fine - when im not using it I pull out the internal power lead - certainly not ideal...but free!!

sadly my cab air con has now packed up!!! I do love my RV - but problems problems problems....All of them the common ones though

always look on the bright side......

I wonder if the OP managed to solve this problem
My newly acquired Auto Sleeper AC has just started to exhibit very similar problems just as described.
Can I see an expensive repair bill on the horizon??
Any help would be much appreciated
