F1 conspiracy theory

Am I the only person to see the possibility of some serious cheating from Ferrari??

Haas F1 2018 car is virtually a 2017 Ferrari and since their joining F1 they have liaised heavily with Maranello, what a coincidence that both Haas cars had an insecurely mounted wheel at their pit stop and despite the mechanics frantically gesticulating the fact, the team released both cars. The first one stopped on track in a safe place so no problem for the race, however the second unfortunate error stopped the car in an unsafe area, calling for firstly a virtual safety car followed by a full safety car period.
This gave Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel a free pit stop allowing him to jump into first position on track.
With the circuit being one where overtaking is almost impossible, a very lucky break.

It wouldn't be the first time such incidents have been engineered to alter the outcome!

Proving such a thing is of course unlikely but surely worth some speculation.

Well thatís an interesting theory BUT..........

I donít think anyone would believe that a team who were doing SO well in the race would chuck it all away for another team, it could have monstrous financial implications at the end of the season when the money is doled out as the amount received is directly proportional to the number of points each team has accumulated.

It was mentioned on the F1 Sky commentary, as they said F1 Race Control would need to be part of the conspiracy to ensure the virtual safety car was used as opposed the actual safety car, as that would only allow Vettel to close up on Lewis.

I think you will find that F1 is different from all other sports.
The whole aim is to cheat as much as possible and see what gets past the scrutineers (and the other teams)....if it succeeds fine...if it doesn't change it just for that occasion or lobby for the unreasonable regulations to be changed.
Now, how do they lobby?...Well that's a much longer story

The easy way out is to ban pit stops when the safety car is out.

I believe a miscalculation in time by the Hamilton team was to blame for him losing the race.

You forgot about the Russians, the Cyclists, Australian cricket, greyhound racing and there's more.

Apparently it's a race.
But as mentioned earlier it's almost impossible to overtake on this track.
What is the reasoning behind that ?
It can't be much more interesting than watching the Boat Race.

I quite like watching F1 but like you Keith I do struggle a bit with tracks where overtaking is nigh on impossible.

I appreciate that there is enhanced skill shown when an overtake can be achieved in these circumstances but if a whole race relies on getting to the first corner first; and then the team (not the driver) not being out thought on the pitting sttategy, then I can appreciate that it can become a turn off for some.

Regarding pit stops, it would level the playing field a little and reduce the chance of mishaps like the not secured wheels if all pit stops were for a mandatory time such as 5 or ten seconds. This would mean everyones pit stop was the same so no advantage taken by the speed of the stop.

I would shorten the races and cut out the pit stops altogether. Too many races are won and lost in the pit areas when itís supposed to be a race on the track. Two races per meeting would break the monopoly of one long strung out race.
