Big Cat river Ebro

Fancy a go on the famous river Ebro. Big carp and even bigger cats, we wild camp at the side of the river for 10 to 12 weeks at a time until the weed starts to die off and float down river, then it's time to move on..

A nice cat, they don't arf ang on!.
I caught this a couple of years ago, don't think I am strong enough to land them now. Sandra and I caught a lot of fish with Sandra's PB a carp over 55lbs, of course I had to top it with one just over 60lbs.

Embarrassingly, when I make love, I let out long deep breaths. It bothers me, but Sandra insists that sighs doesn’t matter.. . . ray......

I saw one of them eat a Pigeon on the Canal du Midi a couple of years back. Well I Say saw it. The Pigeon had somehow ended up in the water and was flapping about a bit. There was a swirl and the thing just sucked it under. Gone in a second.

That video needs spicing up a bit though Ray. You maybe should have got Sandra to do a little Dance or something for the first 8 mins or so. Ill see what I Can do.

The fish in the river Ebro are totally wild fish not pet fish out of commercial fisheries.. to catch them you need skill they don't give up and run for the first bait they see and just about every carp still has it's curtain in it's mouth which means it has never been caught before.. The Spanish if they catch anything they knock it on the head and it's dinner, we put them back to live their lives out until a Spanish fisherman catches it..

The river Ebro and the Segre which meet at Mequinenza makes an enormous river and drains a lot of Spain with trillions of tons of water going down it every day. Where I fish the river is a good mile wide and 40ft deep, so you are doing me, fish and the river a disservice by your remark insinuating that the fish are caught all the time and have mouths like sieves.

Sandra and I have fished together for the last 30 years a pastime in the fresh air we both enjoy together..

Not wanting to hijack your thread Ray, as a predominant sea angler I have attached the fish of my life. A 50k+ Conger, the skippers scales were calibrated to 50K this fish flashed past the 50K mark.

I must add that it was returned unharmed.

Caught on Blackjack out of Mudeford Quay.

How lovely that Sandra also likes fishing, just as much as you do the look on her face.

Ray

It was about time we had more of you two on the Ebro. I can't remember when you last posted about it. Are you still going every year or have you missed some?
