Mercedes Sprinter CDi <2006 Eberspacher Kit

Many of you have asked me about the upgrade I did on our previous Mercedes Sprinter Motorhome. I have missed several PM's requesting the information so have made a topic you can refer to here.

For those who have not asked or seen the topic I shall put you in the picture.

Many Mercedes Sprinter Motorhomes (+Some Top End Sprinter Vans, Mini Bus, Chassis Cabs and Mercedes Vito also covered). Have an eberspacher diesel heater as a standard factory fit for engine coolant water heating.
In standard form this heater is referred to as a "Boost Heater" or "ADD Heater".

To see if your Mercedes has one, look for a centre switch on the heater controls marked with a heater icon (series of waves). If you have this it is likely you have the factory fit Eberspacher boost heater.

To confirm, look behind and under the UK passenger side headlamp. If you have found it, many of you may never have known it was there and probably never used the boost function. In standard form, this heater will only work with the engine running.

Now what you can do is install an Eberspacher upgrade kit. This enables you to use the heater as a pre-heater or Auxiliary heater. I fitted it as a pre-heater which helps prevent premature engine wear and excessive initial fuel consumption. But more as a backup, should we run out of gas during winter trips to Norway.

The kit comes complete with a timer but you can also upgrade to a remote fob or even operation from anywhere in the world with a phone signal !

The Part Number is 24 0212 00 00 00

and there is more information on this link Here

The Kit cost me in the region of £275 but the RRP is around £325

Supplied mine and were very helpful.

I seem to remember the heater came with some pieces of kit I did not need (like a pump - one already fitted).

If you need any more info, please ask.

PS I fitted the timer on the MH Control panel next to the Truma Stat for ease of use. See image

The conversion kit 24-0212-00-00-00 is not available in USA. Does anyone know a source for the conversion kit or for the relay mod kit 22-1000-30-97-00. 12v
