Goot my new phone!!

. That was quick. It's a refurbished Honor 8x but already I have a problem in the setup. Having signed in to my Google a/c it wants permission to auto download apps n updates from Huawei, Google n giffgaff, even at the cost of mobile data. You can remove or disable later but by then your data's gone.

I need to know that I can change that setting once I've said OK at this point.

Anyone know?

Hi Jean

Have you got it logged into your home Wifi if so I would expect it to use that for the data downloads. Also if you go into settings and check the mobile settings then you maybe able to turn Mobile Data off so it is forced to use Wifi. Don't forget to turn the Mobile Data back on for when you need it.

I went ahead n did it - tried turning off mobile data but wouldn't do anything so turned it on again n crossed my fingers.

Still in the process of getting it the way I want it. Too many folk in my life at the moment!!

Moving from my old HTC to the new HTC last month and I'm still installing and updating things Jean.
I wonder why I did it now as the old phone was great apart from the 'mail' app.
But at least Prue can use it to Whatsapp family and see the off e-mail. So thats a plus.

And again as Doug says you can select data roaming or not and only download and update anything while on Wi-Fi.

When I recently upgraded my phone Google ported all my old apps onto the new phone, took about an hour.

Amazing Kev. Never heard of that. But by the time I wanted to load my new phone I had reverted the old one back to factory settings. Boo Hoo.

If you think about it, Google supplied all the apps, if you look for a app on line (PC) then choose to load it, it will ask which device you want it loaded to, then provides a list if you have or have had more than one, and when they were last used, so it's just a click away to re-load onto a new device.

Problem is, my MiFi is seen as WiFi and I don't want my app updates using up my data.

I used Phone Clone or something on the Honor 8x which did a great deal of the hard work but I'm still tweaking.
