Which SIM provider for good coverage in Europe?

This has probably been covered but I can never find anything I need.

I bought a tracker device recently which needs a PAYG sim.

I have 2 SIMs in my phone (unfortunately both O2) and a 3 sim in my mifi. There was the odd occasion when I'd no reception on any of these. It may be that wherever I was, no provider's SIM would have worked but I'd like to widen the possibilities.

Can others recommend a SIM that gets very good coverage? I'm mostly in France n Spain but considering Croatia this spring.

Interesting question Jean. My Toggle (suggested by Alan) seems to log onto any provider in France and Portugal. Always have a signal. But my previous sfr and present Boygues often find dead spots.

Ive always found Vodafone pretty good. They will log on to whoever has the best signal plus they dont seem to cap data usage abroad or impose bandwidth restrictions.

I'd recommend Toggle too, they use many networks. Having said that I don't think it matters which you have in some areas because they are just dead regardless of your service provider.

I'm not sure how brexit would effect Toggle though.

I bought a tracker about a year ago from Rewire security. A GP104

https://www.rewiresecurity.co.uk/gps...le-car-tracker

Not overly dear and for a similar amount (can’t remember exactly) I have access to their tracking app and support for life (10 years).

All of this is only relevant because Rewire supply sims by Lycamobile foc. It needs topped up by £5 every 90 days and transmits only data to the tracking app. Their preference for SIM cards is Lycamobile over the main players based on coverage. I do not know if they get a ‘deal’ from that company.

There are ONLY four “providers” of mobile networks in the U.K. they are EE , O2, 3 and Vodafone.

ALL of the other mobile phone companies pay these providers for access to “their” infrastructure. You need to know which provider the SIM card supplier uses in order to make a reasoned decision about coverage.

I expect it’s the same across Europe but I don’t know who they are I am afraid.

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if it’s in a caravan!) I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with

Thanks all. My 2nd SIM is actually a Toggle SIM (using the O2 network here in NI) so I'll have a look at those mentioned - I could maybe put the Toggle in the tracker n transfer the number to a different SIM, maybe Vodafone which would use a different provider from my main number. That would give me more options.
