Android One

Dorli's ancient Samsung S4 has been playing up, so we decided it was time for something a little more up-to-date.
We consulted the "national gurus" via the Net and decided on a Xia..... something or other... well recommended cheapo. Phone ran Android 8.1 but fronted "Android One"

The 'phone worked brilliantly, but getting all Dorli's various essentials to play was a nightmare, not wholly completed after three days of serious frustration.

Problem........Android One is a Google creation on top of some of the latest 'phones, and it is mega obstructive and obtrusive.
Solution..... took the 'ruddy thing back and bought a normal Android 'phone.
Peace at last in the Bill and Dorli household.
Our advice......stay clear of Android One.

I disagree. Android One is as near to pure Android as you can get without the expense of buying a Pixel phone.

Were you trying to install apps not in the Play Store? Android One 8.1 and 9 is more secure than previous versions of Android.

My HTC came with dozens of apps included I really don't need or want.
I personally only use maybe six for mail and maps. Why pay for stuff you don't want?

It's not the paying for apps I don't want, it's not being able to get rid of the damned things, they take some space up I could use for other storage.

You can just 'disable' them Kev.

Yes and I do, but they still take up the same storage space which is the real problem.
