Been a heavy day Jan but thanks. Will try more options tomorrow as yes I do have Messenger although I wonder why again.

Hi.

One option to avoid Facebook notifications/battery drain etc is to delete the app from the phone complely. (Hold finger on the app icon then drag to "uninstall" at the top of the screen on most Android phones).

Then to access Facebook on the mobile use the web browser as you would on a PC or laptop. You normally get a similar look and functionality, the only bit missing is FB Messenger. If you do try to message anyone from the mobile browser you will be automatically directed to the app store to install the messenger app. Avoid!

Mike

Ray.
After reading about how much information the Social Media platforms can collect on an individual, you would be better deleting them Ray. You can download everything they know about you by some companies.

Have a read of this page. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/29/how-...ign=pockethits

Yes Mike it could come to this.!!!!
Although up to now today, since clicking "Force Stop" in apps the message hasn't appeared. So possibly problem solved at last.

Thanks Jim. I'm waiting for the 'info' right now.
Up to now I haven't found it too intrusive except Facebook. So deleting FB on the phone won't bother me at all. But Google is another benefit/problem.??

As there seems to be a lot about you online Ray, you might want to check here as well.

https://haveibeenpwned.com/

It checks to see if your email addresses have been hacked and is free. I checked mine earlier and there has been some nefarious activity on my main email address.

Yes Jim and thanks. I have been checking haveibeenpwned.com/ for some time and my old Yahoo and AOL were targeted. Passwords changed again and again.
As it's so easy to check up on people I guess the powers that be won't want us to hide from their searches.

Much of the stuff so far downloaded is unintelligible to me and needs some app downloaded to view. Not sure I can be bothered now to go too far down this route.
Plus much is as dated as far back as 1969.??? I didn't have a computer till 1993 I think.

Ray.
