DON'T turn on mobile internet in Spain until 1st April or data roaming until 1st April.
The phone should work as normal as long as you are putting +44 in front of the number you are calling or texting (Deleting the 0 of the UK number of course).
You are on the same network I was on Yoigo and mine was fine. In France turn everything back on and use as if at home taking contract limits into account. What you can't do either is tether the phone to a laptop/tablet.
Pop into a local Yoigo shop and ask them to have a look.

Can you receive incoming calls?

How do you do this with a data sim in an Ipad? You can't register it online because you can't receive a text message on an Ipad to activate an account.

The sim will have a number, not the IMEI number but a 11 digit one same as a phone number. Call 3 and they will ask for that number, then tell them your intentions.

IF it is a 3 sim card will ONLY work in a phone not in a iPad or tablet. In addition to our iPad we have a Samsung Galaxy tab and we use a card in there from Toggle mobile. It works for data and calls and text, plus you can have a number for each country you are in (additional cost) for local calls within that country.http://www.togglemobile.co.uk/home/en

I purchased a 3 nano data SIM card last week specifically for Ireland and France and New Zealand and later in the year hong kong plus USA. I haven't yet activated it as we are not travelling until late April
The sim Data card is in the iPad and shows up as a 3 network, I will activate it just before travelling out of the UK in case their are any problems

The 1G Data SIM card is on a rolling monthly contract feelathome and includes
Australia/Austria/Denmark/Finland/France /Hong kong/Indonesia/Israel/Italy
/Macau /Norway /Eire / Sri lanka/Sweden /Switzerland /United States
Spain and New Zealand are being added in April,
Could be sales talk at the three shop but more partners are likely to be added in the near future,
I personally feel that 3 have done this before the so called removal of the roaming charges fiasco to build up a large client base, it will be intersting to see if they continue to add partners especially in Europe now the EU is leaving roaming charges in place for the foreseeable future ,

Now reitired thank god , looking forward to flying when the weather is good or motorhoming when its not, just like to get away from it all now I can take it easy.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, I said I had a 3 sim card which will not work with a iPad or Tablet. Which is still true and accurate.

The OP did not mention a DATA sim and I got the impression that the query related to data on a phone.

However

If you have a 3 DATA sim card then obviously it will work.

Sorry for confusion,
