If you want to use vinegar Kev

Try your local Asian supermarket

I buy cheaply in bulk

I use vinegar to clean windows etc

Once cleaned, it won't get into that state again

Ours is pristine

I think that one hasn't been cleaned after the last emptying

Nothing to do with chemical additives

Maybe I shouldn't tell this- but - when caught short with a very full cassette I have dumped it in a roadside ditch,[a fairly deep one admittedly and out in the countryside] as in my opinion it is as previously mentioned, purely organic matter plus water and decomposable tissue.
I shall now put my head back below the parapet and wait!!!

Sog

We have had sog for many years, it has been great apart from the microswitches failing but I've got quite good at replacing them.
Dont read on if you are eating
We do also use a bit of degradable additive. The nett result is no smells indoors and .... when you empty it- it comes out like cold tea- no lumps- no paper
I have never needed to empty other than into a drain system and what goes in does assist the system to work, it is all natural stuff. I would never use a old fashioned stopper/ preservative additive, that really defeats the purpose and can cause big problems in a site septic tank

Wait for what?

For every other grownup to tell you what an irresponsible selfish criminal utter **** you are for doing that?
For helping to get Motorhomes banned from more locations s because you dumped your **** in other people's environment?

I went up to Bestway this morning and got 2 x 5ltrs of Sarsons white vinegar, and 6 x 5ltrs of water all for less than £15, water is not for the cassette before anyone asks but to carry in the van, although it does have a very good water filter which works as our outside tap taste bloody awful very TCP like.

Anyway I took the disc out and it was even worse than I thought now it's been allowed to dry overnight, I had to use a hammer and chisel to shift some of it to give the vinegar a chance to work, I'll look at it again tomorrow and see what it looks like.

A couple of new pictures added to the link of the mess around the slide linkage. Yukety YUK YUK.

I find the biggest advantage of a SOG is that it allows the cassette to vent outside the van.

The biggest problem I observed in my van was the cassette, without a SOG, vented the gas that builds up, especially when travelling in hot weather, into the van.

The fact that it also pumps fumes outside, when the toilet is in use, is a bonus.

Cheers
Bill
