Not sure if this helps but we had a Autotrail cheyenne converted for wheelchair use. it was basically gutted and rebuilt inside. i'll try to attach some pictures.

Looking at the last picture it looks like that was retained, but I did see a hab door leaning against a wall in the unit so maybe a wider one was fitted, but probably in the same place, or you'd need a complete new side to lose the hole.
