Kalingrad

Has anyone been to Kalingrad?

Hoping to drive in from Poland, than head north along the Curonian Spit into Lithuania.

I have read on the web that there is a 72 hour visa available that is cheaper / less bureaucratic than a normal Russian visa

Loved Lithuania - you can get into Russia 'Visa Free' if you sail from Helsinki! http://www.europebycamper.com/2011/0...visa-free.html

Thank you for the link. Makes interesting reading although I'm not sure we will definitely go yet. Depends on cost of visa.

I did have a chat with you at last year's Harrogate show. We also live in York and was chatting about Albania and insurance etc. We did go last summer and had a good time. When I get the time I will put soemthing up on the Albania page.

Main thing putting me off (Baltic in general) is mosquitoes. Were you in the area in summer? If so, how much of a nuisance are they?

I worked in Gotland some years ago (September time) and don't recall any mosquitoes there, but Latvia, Lithuania, Kaliningrad all seem a bot more 'swampy'.

Also did you prefer Latuvia or Lithuania?
