Working when retired
Have just been reading all the posts re Andrew's " Voluntary Help Projects - Motorhoming with purpose" and thought the WORK scenario may be worth a mention. Not quite in the same vein of things as Andrew's but as we all know once we retire, there is no "NEW" money coming in and with the best investments available its not the same as a pay cheque. Have you thought about working as couriers during the summer for holiday firms abroad? We are just coming to the end of just over 2 months in St Jean de Monts on the west coast of France working for "French Freedom Holidays" free pitch including EHU many perks and a weekly wage. We were extremely lucky as we also had the sole use of the company's Smart car FOC and although we were not doing the actual job of couriers ie greeting and meeting/cleaning chalets, we had a great time and the company tell us they would much rather have "mature" seasonal workers than students as we are more reliable. Anyway just a thought as we would never have dreamt of a job had we not met a member of staff and got chatting about motorhomes which led on to "what do you do". We are definitely returning next year for the season, so if you need any more info send us an email.
