Only ever been to Torre del Mar in the summer Goldi, they tell me it is busier in the winter but being 'nesh' (midland expression for a wimp) I guess the sea will be cold. It often is too cold there in the summer for me.
If you ever get the chance, a trip down to Camping Aciete near Conil south of Cadiz is worth the effort; run by an enthusiastic German, this is where we will visit next summer. He tells us that his busiest season is mid-winter, so I guess we may make the effort some time.
Enjoy all!

Only the prices keep going up for camping in Spain generally and this summer we noticed a few spaces beginning to crop up, even on peak weekends because Spain is having a hard time economically.
I know it is winter but I need some incentive to look forward to next summer, so I have a look at pictures like this.

El Portus co-ordinates: 37.582142,-1.068399

Hi Alan - Very happy memories of visits to El Portus. The unspoilt mountain scenery is superb. But as you say, it is becoming a touch expensive these days. And because of the hills, in mid-winter, it loses a small amount of sunlight in the morning and evening. Most appealing nonetheless, and an otherwise good winter climate. The indoor pool and spa are a bonus during the cooler months.

Vera Playa, Costa de Almeria, Spain

Wild camping co-ordinates: 37.230555,-1.797287 (main naturist area south down beach)

Vera Playa, a short drive up the coast from Mojácar and the fishing port of Garrucha, is probably Spain's biggest naturist resort. It began almost thirty years ago when Camping Almanzora set aside part of its site for naturists: more and more of their customers were stripping off on the beach next to it. In those days it was in the middle of nowhere.

Today, the au naturel resort consists of a 4-star nudist hotel with more than three-hundred rooms, and two thousand privately owned apartments. The naturist beach is over 2km long.

Unfortunately, Camping Almanzora closed last year to make way for more development. However, there is some wild camping at the naturist beach - the pics below were taken in September.

Since the closure of the naturist site, I've heard that nearby textile Camping Cuevas Mar ( http://www.campingcuevasmar.com/b2_en.htm ) might allow very discreet nude sunbathing. However, check first if it's an important requirement.

Google for more info about Vera Playa.

Hi
I know the area quite well, so where exactly is this wild camp by the naturist beach? Commercialism being what it is, if enough people occupy this zone it could be to our advantage. I miss Vera Playa camping as I do Las Rosas where Kevin Hefferman had his own private naturist site until he died a few years ago. His wife I believe joined up with Feli his odd job man and acquired a bar in the village nearby.
If numbers are helpful in encouraging use of this new found wild camping area. Count me in.

The motorhomes in the pics are towards the northern end of the beach, just beyond where the original Almanzora campsite was located. You can make out the northern side of the Vera Playa Club Hotel in the top photo.

We've noticed that ever since the breakwater was built and the new sand imported in front of the hotel - a couple of seasons ago - the naturist area has extended northwards right around the bay towards Villaricos. Previously, it seemed to end shortly after the hotel, but when we were there last, folk were stripped off all along that section. And certainly most of the motorhomers were in the buff.

Additionally, I have seen the odd wild camper on the roads within the naturist resort area - amongst the apartments, and near the sea front. We tend not to go during July and August, so it may be different then.

If anyone who has posted details of beaches or a site would like to edit their post with GPS co-ords I will drop them into a pushpin set in the downloads section.

Thank you very much, we have always had a soft spot for this area and will certainly make a visit next year. I see there is a road running from the roundabout beyond the apartments down towards the trees. Last time we were there an all night music festival was taking place there, so may try not to coincide with their dates,
Cheers

Yep, you got it Alan! And I've just noticed the google streetview camera has been right down on the beach there, which is worth a look (though no sign of any MHs in their images).

Hi Traveller - thanks for the suggestion. I'll aim to take a look at the places I've listed and add GPS info. However, it won't be for a week or so because we're off in the morning to find some warmer weather! And not sure what connectivity we'll have while we're away. Busy at the moment getting packed...

I'll also aim to list some more locations with photos when we're back, if anybody is interested.

Cheers

Hi all
Just to add one more beach to the growing list.

For quite a few years we used to trog off down to Serignan Plage and use the naturist site by the beach,
However now we have a larger van and all mod cons then we use the "aire" next door to it, still by the beach, allthough it does resemble a rough car park.
No one seems bothered if you trot off over the dunes wearing only ambre solaire.
The shop in the site is really useful also.

Incidentally, for those going down through, or to, the Black Forest, as long as you are members of an FNI club, stop off at our club on the outskirts of Freiburg ([email protected]) where you will be made more than welcome

regards
