portugal

thought we might visit Monte Naturista while touring Portugal in May.
As we will have our dog with us I thought I'd check to see if they allow dogs - but can't see one way or other from their web site!
Can anyone who has been please advise. Also if you know of any other naturist sites in Portugal I be most appreciative

Cheers

Hi Gordon

There's a possibility we might stop off at Monte Naturista O Barão on our travels around southern Iberia next month. We haven't been before, so can't advise on whether they accept dogs or not. I'd be slightly surprised if they didn't, but if nobody else comes up with the answer on here then drop them a line - it's run by a young Dutch couple (who speak English) and they are assisted by a British couple.

I've copied and pasted some other naturist places in Portugal from my planning notes. The first one - Quinta dos Carriços - is on the western Algarve. It is part naturist ie ordinary textile site with a large area reserved for naturists. Haven't stayed, but have wandered around - seemed pleasant enough. Met two naturists from the UK who'd stayed all winter in their touring caravans - for a number of years, actually.

I think the other places are all small, and probably quite rustic (and informal) - make of them what you will from the notes and websites.

In any case, have a good trip. We're sailing to Santander and staying at various naturist places in Spain first.

Mike

Our Horses (2) are free to roam…. free to do whatever horses
need to do, to feel safe and happy, as far as 55 acres will allow.
So we decided to change the status quo, and rather than
put the horses into paddocks, we will create individual paddocks
for our guests and ourselves, and allow the horses to come and
look at us if they choose to.
With easy access directly off the IC1, the main route through
Portugal, our naturist campsite is ideal for large RVs.

Mike - many thanks for the info;- I've since received a reply to the e-mail I sent and they do accept pets.
We will be traveling down the Silver Road to Italica from Santander before moving along the Algarve etc so it might be week two or three before we visit MN.

Have a good trip.

Glad to hear you received a positive response from Monte Naturista O Barão that they are happy to accept dogs.

Our itinerary involves visits to: Sierra Natura, El Portus, El Zorro, Camping Cuevas Mar (part naturist) at Vera Playa all in Spain. Then, possibly heading west taking in Almanat, Camping Cala del Aceite (part naturist) and on to Portugal, and perhaps going to some of the places I listed above.

We catch the boat from Plymouth to Santander next Sunday.

Have a great time.

Just to add to my previous post. We are currently at Monte Naturista O Barão in Portugal, having stayed at all the sites mentioned in Spain en route here.

A lovely place it is too. The setting is attractive, the pool inviting and Jeff & Laura, and Jill & Andy that run the site, help to make staying here a pleasant and friendly experience.

We are heading for home on Monday, unfortunately.

Hope you have a great trip.
