What ereader do you use for UK library books?

I had a long-term problem with my 5yr-old Kindle Paperwhite - it rebooted itself if and when it felt like it, even when I was in the middle of reading a word. Or it would freeze and I'd have to reboot it myself.

It improved marginally when I removed it from the magnetised cover (as suggested by Amazon) but in the end I decided to bite the bullet and buy new.

Imagine my frustration to find this one doing the same!

So, before I contact Amazon to say I want a refund, I'd like to investigate the possibilities that would include the use of library books (the Kindle will only work with libraries in the States).

I do have a Samsung tablet and wonder if you can get a non-reflective screen stick-on thingy... But it still wouldn't have the backlight....

Any recommendations?

I have the kindle light

I pay 7.99 a month for kindle free

For me more than worth it

I read a book most nights when I wake

If Iím drowsy I read cookery books , home improvements ect

Books not so well written

But better than I could write

And yes

It often reboots

A minute or so

But I read these books all over Europe when I travel

Without WIFI

Is this normal then?!?

I consider it not fit for purpose. I didn't realise it wasn't unusual behaviour.

How can they possibly justify the cost when it behaves so badly?

Anyway, my original question remains - anyone using an e-reader that works with UK library books?

My Kindle paperwhite, never re-boots itself had it now since 2015 and is regularly used, wife has newer one and that doesn't experience it either.

Think you must be unlucky or maybe the cover you are using is the problem, neither of ours have a fitted cover simply use a sleeve for when not in use.

.

I can second that. Never has a moments trouble with my rather aged wifi-3g Paperwhite. I even dropped it on the first day (oops) punching a tiny little hole in the screen but it just carried on. I have just treated myself though to a new wifi-3g Kindle Oasis which is brilliant.

Does the Oasis support UK library books shingi? Can it be read outdoors on a sunny day? Does it have a back-light?

My wife is starting to read more and more books at last. At least on holidays. So again I am looking to possibly buy a cheap and simple reader for her to stock up with books before we go. It's needs to be cheap and simple to match our needs.
There was a Kindle on promo last year at £29.99.

That I could not say Iím afraid because I only ever use Amazon for my books. Iíve recently signed up for Kindle Unlimited. It has a back/forward page button on the same side and if you flip the device to your other hand the screen will turn to match it so you can use either hand. It is also touchscreen and has a backlight which automatically adjusts to your surroundings if you set it to that and it is entirely readable on a sunny day like all Kindles. It feels lovely as well. It is also hellish expensive so I had better not drop this one!

I donít use a cover either

I do sometimes wonder if the problem is with the book format

Even those direct from kindle

I should take more care to note when it happens

I read in our bedroom mostly and as itís an extension the WIFI isnít always at its best

So maybe itís 4G
