It doesn't have a physical keyboard but one that's part of the touch screen. It's lighter and easier to hold than the original. The only (slight) drawback I have found with it is that I can't surf the net with it. Not that I did much on the old one.
Hth, Nick.

Nick, thanks for the info.

I will buy the Paperwhite version as and when the need arises. Maureen has the same model but hers does not get used as much as mine.

You mention the screen breaking how did it happen? I've heard of a few cases but curious to know what caused it.

They don't transfer automatically any longer (or didn't when I bought a new one 3 months ago) but can be downloaded from the Cloud which has ALL your purchases on it....

Not a quick task IMO, I download about 20 at a time on WiFi and that takes a while to set up etc.

Amazon don't want to make things easy do they.....?

Dave

Any typo that I make means the errorists win.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.

Well Don

I don't do social network during lent

I come on to check but don't post

But ill make an exception for you babe

Your books are stored on I cloud as many as you have bought

If you read a lot or just enjoy downloading certain books, I love cookery or homemaking and self help and dare I say it theology
So once I pay £ 7.99 a month I can read as many books on kindle unlimited as I wish

I'm allowed 10 open books then I need to exchange an open book for a new one

And as I browse incessantly it makes good sense for me

Since I joined kindle they have replaced more or less every failed kindle

Mypresent one is back lit, handy for reading in bed which I do for much of the night as I don't sleep well

I can access on I pad

The advantage is its in colour and I can access the bits that are on WiFi easily

But obviously that won't matter for a novel

Anyway back to seclusion for me

36 days to go

Love

Sandra

I don't mean physically brocken, as in cracked, but I started it up one day and all the pages looked like a big smudge of ink. Apparently a well known problem. I had been using it for a few years so I just upgraded to the Paperwhite. I've been told that the screen can be replaced, at a cost. The main thing that annoyed me was that someone from the old Motorhome List had let me have hundreds of books that I had uploaded and now for some reason many will not transfer to the Paperwhite.

Nick.

A small deed done is better than a great deed planned.
