Concessions for US Parks, Motels and car hire?

I will be travelling in the US for 6 weeks in September and October taking in Washington State, Montana, Wyoming, Dakotas, Louisiana, Georgia and Carolinas.

I would love to hire a MH but a oneway extended trip hire seems prohibitive, unless anyone knows different?

I have traveled there before many years ago using motels but I am considering car hire and a mixture of tent camping with some Motels this time. I will be covering a number of State and National Parks and campsites.

Can anyone recommend any annual passes that are worth getting in advance. I believe that you need to be a US citizen to get AAA or Golden Eagle? Also the concessions seem to be different between State and National Parks.

Any input on US tent camping would also be helpful.

many thanks

Are you ex military by chance - always hefty discounts available. I've known us get 80% of things, even a round f golf.

If you are a member f certain non US clubs you can get AAA discounts - link :

Also, have you thought of the hire companies who move RVs, cars etc across the country? You can get some good deals on that sort of thing. Eg Camp America ofn need RVs to be over from NE part f e country to another.

KOA camp grounds have camping huts for hire on most of their sites, really good value.

Some years ago I needed proof of being over 50 and at the time B&Q had (I think) an over 50's discount card, so I showed that.

The young assistant first accepted it without question, but then said "Say - what does B&Q mean?"

I thought for a minute (do YOU know what B&Q stands for??) and then had a brainwave - "Bush & Quayle" I replied.

I was then an AA member and that was accepted instead of AAA with question almost anywhere.
Graceland actually asked if I qualified for a discount of any kind at the pay desk and they accepted the AA card as an AAA equivalent straight off.

I think lots of places just give age discounts anyway, so take your passport with you.
