Bulgaria

Hi
How many people cross over to Europe heading east towards black sea and Greece.
there are not many sites in Bulgaria for Motorhomes and just wondered if it would be worth setting one up.

I am in a town called Bansko and its on a main road heading towards Greece Border.
Any links, comments would be gratefully accepted?
Thank You
Kevin

Hi Kevin

We passed that way earlier this year and stayed at Camping Kromidovo just over the border from Greece. Then onto Veliko Tarnovo and then into Romania.

Both campsites are English run.

We were just passing through and I think you would need a particular attraction to get people to leave the major route through the country.

Peter and Carmel

Spooky travelled with us for 5 years and over 20,000 miles. He died aged 11 and is buried in Delphi in Greece.
Now that's a great age and a great adventure for a rabbit and I think he deserves a mention.

It is something we have certainly considered - going to Greece via an overland route through Romania and Bulgaria - so I think the more campsite options for us, the better...

You may want to make some contact with other countries motorhoming/caravanning folks as well to gauge their opinion too.

Good luck

Graham

Which ever way you look at it, we are MUCH BETTER OFF in the EU than outside!

Graham we overwintered in Sicily and Greece last year but the return route through Eastern Europe was the highlight of the trip.

Now I don't want to be political or anything ????????????????? wot me

BUT go soon whilst we are still in the club and cannot be treated any differently for insurance, breakdown, vignettes, roaming costs, health insurance, etc.

If you are traveling from kavala or thesalonika then you would use kulata or to get out of the way of long Ques head to drama, Gotcha Delchiv and through bansko to Motorway to Sofia then onto Vidin and through the border heading North.

I have found the blogs on here so useful that I really wanted to make a contribution...........................got as far as "it is very nice here and the sun is shining" and gave up.

My main comment is that it was much easier than expected..................I remember our first apprehension when crossing to France.

We almost always stayed on sites, usually ACSI but many not open until April.

Vignetted were complicated and I suggest buying them on line where possible as there is a really poor exchange rate at the border if you do not have the local currency. We are uplated at 3850 but passed ourselves off as 3500 but actually never had to show the V5(avoid Austria)

Will try to upload our spreadsheet but happy to answer any specifics.

No it won't let me upload an open office spreadsheet.....................I'll try to convert to pdf later
