My wise friend to the rescue. Thankyou Pete for your much appreciated advice and suggestions. Is Late April still too early for warmth in Greece during the daytime or should I wait until May? Also when does it start to warm up along the South east coast of Spain.

Can I ask if anyone has driven the Hungary - Roumania - Bulgaria route? Aftar eall we are all EU citizens now

A trip down to Greece and Turkey is something we fancy in a year or two's time

You can never be 100% sure nowadays but the Peloponnese should be warming up nicely by late April, all the spring flowers should be out too.
Not sure about Spain.

Hi Delfy,

I will follow your thread with interest as I am considering Greece next year. My thoughts were ferry from Italy in one direction and Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary in the other.

I have been to Hungary and have friends who loved touring Romania with their young family. Might be worth a thought.

Adapt to change quickly. The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you can enjoy NEW CHEESE.

Late Aptil should defintely be warm - when I am going to work on my boat in the E. peloponese I try to go no later than that as May midday can sometimes be a bit hot for work, or walking uphill in sunshine.

If you are a swimmer the it will not feel very warm entering the water from the warm sun - still warmer than UK in Aug, but I do not normally swim in Greece before June.

Remember Greek (Orthodox) Easter Sunday is 12th April 2015 and generally travel is more expensive at least a week either side of that, because for Greeks it is important to return to families for Easter. I am not sure how much this applies to the Italy-Patras routes.

Maybe peejay could come in again on that latter point.

For the past few years April has come into the low season priceband on the main I - GR routes, hopefully it will be the same for 2015.

Also worth noting that the 'Camping on Board' season starts 1 Apr for Anek and Superfast.

Minoan don't have a camping on board option but operate a 'camper special' all year round where you get a basic inside cabin and the van plugged in to ships power for the price of deck passage.
