Car seats with RIB altair seats - buckle crunch?
I'm currently undertaking a campervan conversion (using a fiat ducato xlwb). I was planning to have a 150cm RIB altair seat fitted. I was wanting to use it to seat three children, all using Britax kidfix car seats. In general this seat looks ideal, but I have one big concern: the seat belt stalks look quite long, and I'm concerned I might have issues with buckle crunch. Unfortunately I can't find any local stockists.... and even national stockists seem to have run out of stock, so I can't go and try my car seats on one. Does anyone have experience of using this seat with car seats, and able to confirm whether this was/is a problem for them. If you're using one with a car seat and happy to share a photo of where the seat belt sits that would be really great. Thanks, Paul
Think it's ok with shorter seat belt stalk variant combined with slider
From lots of googling and talking to a supplier (cleacut conversions, UK) I think I've now got the answer to my question. RIB make two seatbelt stalk lengths: 50cm and 65cm. Using the shortes (50cm), on a seat with the slider, and the seat slid forward the seatbelt receivers sits almost flush with the base of the seat (I am told by clearcut conversions who tested this while I was on the phone). I think the photos that had concerned me with what looked like excessively lengthy seatbelt stalks where at the back. Not sure where this would leave someone who ordered the seat without the slider though. If it would be useful, once my seat arrives I'll happily post a couple of pictures of how the child seats sit on here, as having scoured the internet, I couldn’t find any photos that showed that. Cheers, Paul
