SOLD!... Does it drive you mad?

... looking for a new motorhome, page after page on dealers websites of the vehicles they have already sold!

Search this - SOLD
Search that - SOLD

I appreciate they want to show how good they are at selling but for goodness sake, put 'em somewhere else and spend more time selling not gloating about previous success!

After recently buying a new motorhome, I know exactly where you're coming from.

Thanks.... I just can't understand it myself.

Maybe they are just short of vans to sell and need to show 'traffic'

I went on one site the other day and almost all the vans they had listed (must have been over a dozen) were showing sold.... what a waste of everyone's time!

We knew exactly the model etc of van that we wanted but were struggling to find one, then one would appear in the search results but as you say, sold.

I think you're right, they prefer to have lots of vans listed, as opposed to just a few, even if they are no longer available. It probably helps with search results as well.

I can understand it if only a deposit has been taken or something as the sale could still fall through. It drove us mad!

cheers

We find the entire concept of searching for a new motorhome frustrating.

Firstly it has to be LHD, but most search facilities do not give this option. So you find the perfect van only to find its RHD!

I have a couple of LHD's, you did not look in the right place !!

Peter

(PS) all my sold vans are in a separate section but they may well come up in a Google search

Yes, the "sold" ploy just wastes a lot of time. I was impressed when I put the deposit on my van. There and then the sales guy went into their system, hit a couple of buttons and the van simply disappeared off their website.

separate section is good 'recently sold' on a separate section is all it needs.

I appreciate that ads may still be running so the google thing will pull you in.... but after I reach a suppliers main website I don't want to find, within a list of available vans, every second one sold.... it just takes up too much scrolling time.

That's the key element; time

How much it bothers you, or not, is probably related to how much spare time you have.

It could be a lot worse; ever noticed the tactics employed sometimes on ebay where someone lists an item as X then adds to the title 'not Y or Z', so if you search for Y or Z their X appears in your results, that really annoys me
