After that beautiful song sung by his 3 children

A photo of Zolene first performances with her Dad What a talented family. Zolene & Heide her sister who has come all the way from Australia to be with Alan and I think his sons name is Zack, but ready to be corrected.

and then it progressed, 5 years ago Alan had 3 singers and this is my very, very favourite video. Christmas day 2016 I think Jayne was enjoying it as well.

Amazing performance. Must have taken some real courage to get through that so faultlessly.

Unfortunately he is very unwell at the moment and was unable to post or even see all his friends that were waiting in the wings to come to the house for a quick visit. He's now back in the unit and comfortable. His pain is well controlled but that unfortunately also means that he is very sleepy a lot of the time and his speech is difficult to understand - he was still able to criticise my driving on the way back though. As Jan said, his children, Heidi, Ziqh and Zolene had made a recording of his 'funeral song' (there will be no funeral as per his wishes) and when that was played on the TV there wasn't a dry eye in the house, Alan included. He watched it a few more times from his bed back in the unit and was just so proud of all 3 of his children. I will put the video on here when the time comes, which we all feel and hope, will be very close. Will let you all know how things are going as I know that this forum is like another family to him. Bye for now. J xx

They kept it together while making it but look what Jayne said when they played it to him at home. I did get his sons name wrong look Zigh.
Like Hans (and me), Alan does not want a funeral.

I just had contact with Zolene, Alan is sleeping a lot, but was able to have a little chat with them today, it must be so hard for them, Jayne is staying at the hospital now.

Just another quick update, we were called up the MacMillan unit on Tuesday morning (11th) and I have stayed here since, with his children calling everyday and staying til evening. We've had lots of ups and downs during the past few day but mainly 'ups' as Alan is still able to acknowledge our presence and enjoy his music playlist which is growing by the day as we remember the songs that mean something to us all.
Alan has always been very stubborn but I don't think any of us realised just how stubborn until now. As I type this note, he's in his bed behind me, breathing strongly and regularly and even yesterday he was able to write notes to us all when we were unable to make out what he was trying to say - he even wrote a recommendation to one of his nurses on the best 'ordinary' breakfast sausage (results of his recent 'sausage survey').
I think he has astonished everyone, not least the doctors, with his fighting spirit.
I will update here when I can and our family really appreciate your comments and concern for Alan.
J xx
