Ford Transit Engine specifications

Apart from Wikipedia, there seems to be little or no info on engine BHP, it is brilliant for the Ducato engine but not much on the Transit engine, I have googled quite a bit but found nothing useful, We're having to go down this route as we can't find a Ducato etc we like.

Can anyone help with a link please.

Depends what you're looking for.

I saw an Autotrail advert in an online magazine where it had an island bed on a Ford chassis. Went to Autotrail

https://www.auto-trail.co.uk/f-line-74

where it states 130bhp but looking at dealer websites many seem to have gone for 170bhp (140bhp also available).

What sort of age are you looking at Kev, the Transit engine has had a lot of upgrades through the years.

Yes I've seen those, but I have also been looking at self builds, the Transit has as big a diversity of engines as the Sevel range, but find data for each engine code is proving impossible for me so far, hence my post Gordon.

That's part of the problem John, preferable dash mounted gearshift era, but that may be out of bounds on price, we're looking around 16k ish, a bit more for a really good one, I would prefer a PVC for access to smaller town and parking, but again down to price.

Try Autotrader: Vans: Ford: Transit: Max Price 16k

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/van-sea...price-to=16000

Sort by Price (highest)

The first ones that I see all mention engine size and bhp.

Gordon, Kev is not looking for an empty van but a PVC (or coachbuilt) so will be considerably older than the ones you link to.

No, he is asking about Transit engine specifications.

Using Autotrader and selecting appropriate criteria will allow a search on engines within a particular build cycle, although the info will be mainly capacity and bhp.
HOWEVER, I would find a van I liked the look of and inquire about the engine in it rather than find an engine and look for a van around it.

Each to their own - Gordon

I've been doing the latter Gordon, but engine power makes a lot of difference to my enjoyment of a motorhome, the interior is less important, take the Ducato 2.8 engine, there are minor differences in the cubic capacity, but huge differences in power, the 2.3 Jtd has more power than the 2.8 idtd, a lot of the smaller van have a 1.9 engine or 2.0 but I can at least look those up easily here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato no such info is available for the transit that I have found, I believe that on the Transit cab door below the mirror there is some engine info, but I've not seen it referenced either.
