Can I block this off?

I wondered why I hadn't had any responses to my query - turned out it hadn't gone, from the wilds of Donegal. I stayed in the MH and walked with family on some of the many gorgeous walks they have there. Here's the query:

Over the last couple of days I've cut carpet underlay to fit the MH floor n it's doing a wonderful job of keeping the floor, and my tootsies, warm.

However, it's windy and I'm aware that there's quite a bit of draught getting in from under the dash.

I took a couple of photos looking up under the dash from the floor and there's a lot of 'openness' there. I'm wondering if I can safely blank off those areas with some of the underlay.

The 1st photo is RHS (passenger side - mine is LHD) and the 2nd/3rd are below the steering wheel. The 4th is parked at Killahoey beach. If there are 5 photos the 1st is a corruption from my 1st attempt to post.

I would block it off and remove it when travelling. Leave a bit of whatever hanging down to remind you.

I take it you have a carbon monoxide alarm just in case?

Brexiters. It's your sh1t now. Whatever happens nationally and internationally you own it. I wish you luck. I think you're going to need all you can get and then some. Friday 13th December 2019.

I do doubt that you can use underlay to block access to the beach though. Although it MIGHT reduce drafts......

Sorry, couldn't resist that.... 🤗

Any typo that I make means the errorists win.

Any comments above are only MY OPINION and should be read as that.

Inadvertently you have taken a really good picture of where the fan resistor is located, it's the white plug on the right of the 1st picture, if you find that the fan only operates at full speed the part to change is behind that plug.

Here is the part https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SmartSens...wAAOSw1fhf4gdh

Yes I know it's miles off the topic, but it will come up if someone searches for it.

Why not ask Hymer why your cockpit is apparently open to the engine/chassis department ?
Must be really draughty when the MH is on the move.
Has something been left off during construction or servicing ?

Alan - yes, I do have a carbon monoxide alarm. I'd hoped to fit n forget - which is what I'm likely to do anyway, regardless of reminders!

Dave, it doesn't look much there but it's a beautiful beach.

Kev, I wouldn't be too concerned if the fan worked only at full-speed - I've always been under-impressed by that aspect of the A-class.

Bill, it's a good question. I haven't really noticed it being too draughty when driving so I think there must be some sort of barrier there otherwise I'd be frozen.

Does anyone else have an Exsis-I to check? Mine is the 504.

We have made up a curtain that we press stud to the lower part of the dash, this helps keep down drafts.

Thanks, I did consider that (I have a similar thermal curtain hangs on the inside of the concertina blinds, makes a huge difference) but would prefer something I could fit n forget.

But it's certainly my backup option.

The 'blocking off' needs to be done from the other side of the bulkhead ie in the engine compartment . If you look in there, it becomes more obvious what can be done. Still , getting at things is never easy unless you're built like a monkey .
