Matilda is on her way

I am so exited, yesterday Matilda our Pilote G742 was picked up from storage in Long Melford and delivered to the Southhampton port awaiting the ship taking her down-under on Tuesday.
We will now look forward to her arrival in Brisbane early in August and will start to plan some journeys.

Gosh Rudi and Cherryl, I hope it all goes smoothly and is worth all the anguish. Be prepared for the odd small item being stolen at the docks.
A company I did work for imported dozens of American 'trailers' into UK and everyone had the wall clock taken. Some docker must have had 30 or 40 American clocks in his house.

Ray.

I was very lucky to make the ship, the first shipping line I booked her on left 2 days earlier then planned and was fully booked ,so I had to change companies and then my transport guy could not make because it was to short of a notice.
Not his fault. By the way he is a great guy ,his company is CaDS and specialises in relocation services. Very pleasant to deal with. So I had about 5 hours to find another transport and lucky for me the broker of the shipping line found one for me. As the vehicle has to be at the docks by Tuesday they collected on Saturday. I just did not want to wait another 3 weeks for the next ship. The vehicle is totally empty so unless something gets unscrewed it hopefully will be ok. I will know in August

Hope all goes well with that! It's a bit more of a complicated delivery than most of us manage!

Well Matilda is stuck. As one of my favourite Uk Tv characters Victor Meldrum
would say
I DONT BLOODY BELIVE IT
We used a British forwarding agent and I was assured that the shipping line they use do not require the vehicle to be fumigated , which saves us £ 2000.
1 day before shipment we received an E. Mail advising they made a mistake and it needs fumigation. I am aware that some lines do while others don’t, so after some heated discussions we are booked now on another shipping company. This means our Motorhome will now leave south Hampton on July 24 and arrive in Brisbane in the middle of august.
The good News is that the freight rate was less and I don’t have to pay for fumigation

I disliked the so called 'agents' who seemed to get well paid for one form and a stamp and didn't safeguard the vehicle.
