Cb radio

Hi all

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but does anyone know the best place to mount a CBT radio aerial on a motorhome?

At the moment Iím on a small aerial on a mag mount on the bonnet which gives me an amazing reach of almost 600 metres, providing there are no trees in the way.

I do have a rear ladder but would rather not run the cable all the way through to the cab so I was thinking about a mirror mount with ground plane but wouldnít the cab get in the way of signal?

And in answer to the question, yes I am a throwback from the 80ís!

Many thanks
Pete

Sounds like you are talking about PMR rather than CB radio? CB is very much less prone to obstructions. I used to mout my CB 1/4 wave whip on my wing mirror and it easily gave a 6 mile range and on occasions if conditions where right I could speak to UK CBers from central France.

Ground plane is the biggest issue with a Moho, I'd suggest a good run of cooking foil up there stick it on with wallpaper paste so it'll come off when selling up.

CB radio? I thought that died out about 30 years ago!

Andy

Its not the destination that matters.

It's who you share the journey with (even if like me, itís in a caravan!)
I am very fortunate to have Mrs Plodd to share mine with
