Moncayo/Swift group, Hymer

Hi

We have been looking at layouts and different makes and models for a long time and for our buget the older Hymer A class seems to be a great MH, BUT, theres always one!

We spotted Ace and Bessicarr in the new shape Ducato 07 onwards, then read all about the damp problems in the floor and kept looking thinking back to the Hymer, solid quality etc

Then a Moncayo Mediteraneo, coachbuilt on the Ducato 2.3 chassis similar looking to the Swift models, but pretty rare, the factory has stopped production so I was wondering if anyone knows how similar they are to other coachbuilts?

Do they share habitation doors, panels etc or is it going to be impossible to get bit for if required, obviously appliances/windows etc are shared throughout the industry, just wondering if getting parts and resale values may be a big problem in the future?

Any advice gratefully recieved.

My neighbour has a Moncayo which he trying to sell (in southern France).
Its about 10 years old and tbh it is a poor quality van. I have no idea how that compares to other makes ( apart from our own , naturally )but everything about it screams cheap to me.
Anyway, he hasnt sold it yet. Loads of offers around 10k which he thinks is laughable. He paid 50k new which I think is laughable .
Cest la vie.

Normally the new price of a MH suggest the corresponding quality is either high or low.
In this day and age if Hymer have anything to do with a company customers assume the quality is a given.
In truth.... a rubbish company (very low retail price) producing rubbish motorhomes then bought by Hymer is still the same rubbish company producing rubbish motorhomes....the reason Hymer bought that company was because they were either:- Very profitable (nothing to do with quality!) or financially in a poor state and a steal for a very low price.
It's the same in every field, rubbish products/celebrities these days are sold on perception and not simple common sense.

I need a lie down now

Ted.
I try and state simple facts in a nice way.

I don't think I'd heard of Moncayo before your post but there's one parked beside me in Courville-sur-eure!
