OK if you insist.....

Life is divided into different Kingdoms;

Monera that are prokaryotes i.e. they have no defined nucleus, this includes bacteria

Protoctista eukaryotic but single celled small things like Euglena usually in water

Fungae that are heterotrophic most are parasites or saprophytes

Plantae ( green plants that are autotrophic) generally have a cell wall made of cellulose,

Animalia including ALL animals that are heterotrophic no cell wall,

The Animal Kingdom includes numerous groups of chordate and invertebrates but ALL are animals....

That includes spiders (Arachnids), sponges (Porifera), worms ( flat and segmented such as earthworms), all animals with backbones such as fish, frogs, snakes, birds and mammals including Man ( description of Genus not gender)

That classification was proposed by R H Whitaker in 1969, it replaced the simpler classification from Carl Linnaeus from the 1700's...... which replace Aristotle's attempts.....

There are now suggestions of more Kingdoms as organisms such as Viruses, Viroids and Rickettsia don't fit the 5 Kingdom system and there are other problems.... such as Lichens......

That all used to be part of A Level Biology but is no longer included as it is regarded as "boring" c/w "why shampoo adverts can't be trusted....."

No, I am not joking.....

If you are sufficiently bored that you want further detail I can happily elaborate if you are really desperate.

Cabby, Philip, has emailed me saying he can only get on the old site and not this one, any pointers. I did email him the front page of this but that hasn't worked either.

I must have slept through that lecture. (As I did frequently! It was the boredom! Oh school absolutely failed to light my fire. There was just a minimal spark in French. But I must have absorbed the English curriculum by osmosis. (At the risk of giving my trumpet blower an unpaid holiday, my English is better than most. )

You do realise it was Phil (Cabby) who started the (only) Brexit Facts thread.
