Draughts

Just done a little bit of detective work regarding draughts coming in from the cab on a 2010 Peugeot Boxer.

First one I never realised was draughts come in from the seat belt reel holder, 2 big gaps there, I have also turned the dash vent dial to inside as opposed to out.

But another draught pointed out comes from under the cab seats. They are supposed to be capped off under the drivers seat because of the exhaust) but not always under the passenger seat and stoppers can be purchased to block them off but they do not state what diameter these need to be. Does anyone know of these and what size is required.

Cheers

Dave

I had those draughts in the Ford based TEC - but the open pillars went all the way down to outside the chassis. I had read about blocking these with the rigid celled packaging stuff (senior moment &#x1f62c but I was afraid that might set up a damp trap so simply stuffed a soft microfibre towel in the belt housing; it stopped the draught and didn't interfere with the functioning of the belt.

When you say 'I have also turned the dash vent dial to inside as opposed to out', do you mean you've changed from external air circulation to internal? I'm not sure how that would help?

It closes the vent allowing outside air into the cab, Jean. The wind can whistle through if you don't!

I found putting a 100w inspection light under the bonnet at night and then looking into the footwells and under the dash revealed any holes and lose cable bushes.

Oh, I thought it was somehow addressing the same issue (draught from seatbelt pillars!).

Ray, what a great idea!! Thanks for that.

Remember to turn the vents back on in the morning as it helps to clear the screen if you turn the controls to demist
