vw t4 speedo tacho fault

My R reg 2.5 TDI t4 camper has developed a strange fault. With the van stationary it shows 10 mph and 2000 rpm. When you start the van the rpm rises to 2700 rpm .As I drove down the motorway it showed 90 mph with the revs in the red Temp and fuel gauges are reading correctly.I suspect a printed circuit board fault.
Any one have any ideas how to fault find etc.

If you can get it out, you might consider sending it to Speedy Cables at Abercraf, Ystradgynlais, Swansea SA9 1SQ.

When I built my sports car I needed my taco recalibrating as I'd significantly changed the drive train and it came back looking like new. When it went through SVA I was astonished how accurate it was.

vw t4 speedo

Thank you for the feed back but I am sure that as the fault is in the speedo and tacho it is a control board fault.

Red face speedo tacho fault

Thank you for the reply I have contacted Speedy Cables they sound very good but it means the car will be of the road whilst they repair the instrument cluster.I think I will try and find a second hand unit whilst I have mine repaired.
What is the kit car you have built? I am currently building a Lancia Stratos made by Lister Bell. I am hoping to finish it before I get old.

I built my NG-TF about 13 years ago. It passed Enhanced VSA first time which shows I was a better weekend mechanic than I thought I was.

I've still got it and drive it most weeks, including the winter. Best drive was taking it around Nurburgring with my eldest son riding beside me.

Best wishes for your build. You must be a better driver than me as I'd have killed myself long ago if I'd have fitted a V6 or V8.
