I might have a scam buyer for our Motorhome

I have asked repeatedly for his full name and address, he is now wanting the VIN and the V5 serial Number for a HPI check.

All I have ever needed is the reg number.

Have they been to view it ?

And if so are these some final questions before buying it ?

I would ask to see the reg docs to see if they were the registered seller and how long the seller had owned the vehicle and to finally check numbers against chassis before parting with my cash

He's already seen the v5, he has the reg number, would HPI require the VIN or V5 serial number?

If you look on the HPI site, you will see they do require the VIN no.

They certainly need this in order if you require their indemnity

Thanks Andrew, I tried to look on my phone but the signal here is pants, struggling to get on here even.

It just seems a bit dodgy him not giving his details but wanting all ours.

I've looked on the HPI website, and as Andrew says it seems his questions are legit, so I have provided them, he's supposed to be picking it up tomorrow.

Hi Kev
Give him the details but warn him you will need proof of his name and address before completing the sale. You will need that info for the V5 re-registering slip. Driving licence has name, address and a picture on it.
Just tell him you sold a car once, was given duff details and then had problems with the DVLA.
Regards

I sent him the info, I think a warning might just put him off, I'll check his details when he arrives to collect though, to be honest once I have his money, and I have a name and address I've done my but to comply with any regulations, I will be doing a proper receipt with the usual sold as a seen etc.

How is he paying? Cos bank drafts are not always genuine.
